G’Day

Welcome to the new week. At least for those of us on this side of the international date line. My weekend was a whirlwind of adventure, romance, monkey-business and long-socked teeny boppers. Actually it wasn’t quite that exciting but it was fun. Friday night was a calm serene night at a local pub with a group of friends. Nothing special. Just a lot of chat and hanging out.
Saturday was excellent. A friend had a house party. You have to realize that I am no longer a high school student so by “house party” I mean a “small gathering of friends”. Small being less than 2 dozen people. The party had been in the works for a week or so and it was just an excuse for people to get together and drink. It was also partially a going away party for my friend, Caitriona, who is leaving today (Monday) to go to Vietnam for a year and a half. I didn’t drink, since I was driving and I’m not really a drinker, but I still had a good time.
Sunday was Father’s day but I didn’t drag my sorry butt out of bed until 12:30 (since I didn’t go to sleep till 4:30 the night before). When I woke up no one was around since my parents took my Grandfather out for brunch. I’m disappointed I didn’t make it. Apparently my brother woke me up and asked me if I wanted to go but I said no. I don’t remember the conversation. I had only been sleeping for 4 hours when he woke me and when you wake me up with only 4 hours of sleep I don’t tend to remember stuff. Eventually they came home and my dad opened his present. We (my brother, mom and I) got him a Canon Powershot A40 Digital Camera. It should be interesting to see if he can figure it out. The rest of the day was spent hanging out with friends. Before coming up to Waterloo I hung out with Caitriona one last time. We went to Dairy Queen for sundaes. I’m really going to miss her. I can’t believe she will be gone for a year and a half. Hopefully she will be able to make it back for a visit at some point.
Oh yeah I also went to garage sales on Saturday. Bought a bunch of books and records plus the board game Risk. I don’t really like the game but it looked like it had only been played once and it was only 2 dollars. I figured I could either take it up to the cottage or give it to a friend if I really didn’t want to keep it. I will though.

It’s too bad that the local Dairy Queen is no longer operating. I loved their Strawberry Blizzard and milkshake. Mmmmm…

  2. It’s been a long time since I last played any board games. My favourite game is Uno and Stack Uno which I received as a birthday present from a friend last year.

  3. I’ve played Uno a lot (use to play it all the time when we went to my grandparents) but I don’t know what Stack Uno is.

  4. I hate being disturbed halfway thru my sleep. I can feel a lot of cells in my body die when that happens. LOL
