Today I went back to Grade 4. I helped a friend who teaches Grade 4s teach them about “Pulleys and Gears”. I was the engineering specialist for the day. It was a lot of fun. The kids were great and I got along fine with a lot of them. My job was basically to tell them what an engineer does and where we would use pulleys and gears during my job (which I tried to do without confusing them too much) plus I hung around for the second half of the day and helped them with their practical lessons where they built there own pulleys and gear systems.
One thing I learnt today is that if I decided to become a teacher I certainly wouldn’t be a traditional teacher. I don’t think I could yell or raise my voice at the kids. I wouldn’t let them walk all over me but I wouldn’t be able to yell. I guess I just wouldn’t be a very good public school teacher.
Oh yeah plus I’m extra tired today. I had to get up at 6:30 which is about three hours before I usually get up. I’m so going to go to bed early tonight.
