ForestPirate and Wannabegirl – United at Last!

So to expand and explain my last post: Firda and I were married this past Saturday. I apologize for not posting about it sooner but Firda’s family are just finding out today and even though they don’t read my blog I wanted her to tell them and then post about it before I did.
We have been engaged for about a month and a half but didn’t want to set a date until we knew if Firda’s visa extension came through. When it did we started thinking and decided to pick the one year anniversary of our face to face meeting (though we’ve known each other for almost 5 years now). From there we had a little more than two weeks to plan and get everything together and I think it came together splendidly.
We had a short ceremony in Waterloo Park in the Victorian Gardens, which is basically a big arch structure with flowers planted around it, with my parents, grandparents, brother, sister-in-law and 8 friends. The weather ended up being beautiful considering they had been calling for rain all week. Our reading was from “Oh the Places You’ll Go” by Dr. Seuss. Firda and I stumbled on our vows but made it through them. Following the ceremony there was about an hour worth of picture taking and talking. We took Polaroids of us with all the people who came to the wedding, put them in a “frame” and gave them to our guests at the end of the day.
Following photos we went to Ennio’s Italian restaurant for lunch. We spent 3 hours eating, talking, laughing, taking more pictures, opening presents, eating cake etc.
By 5 o’clock the whole thing was done. Firda and I went back to our apartment and had some alone time before going out with Kevin and Kathleen (our two friends from Toronto – who were at the wedding as well).
It was a great day and I’m happy that Firda and I are starting to build our family, and that she now has a group of people in Canada who she can call “family”.
P.S. Firda will probably post pictures soon, once we get pictures from everyone. I will post a link to them at a later date.
