Thank You

Thank you to all of the people who commented on my last post.
So the details are as follows.
(a) Last Wednesday night/Thursday morning my grandfather fell out of his bed at the nursing home he is staying at. The nurses got him back into bed, had tea with him and put him back to bed. In the morning he was unresponsive. The nursing home doctor checked him out and called the hospital. He was admitted Thursday morning and the doctor told my dad that my grandfather didn’t have much time left. It’s six days later and he is still struggling. He opens his eyes and acknowledges movement and sound but we aren’t sure how much he is processing. He is relatively stable but not getting any better. Firda and I spent as much time as we could with him and my family over the weekend and will probably go back down this weekend.
(b) My cousin was diagnosed with cancer around 8 years ago. She has battled it and struggled against it for those 8 years. Several months back the cancer came back in full force and she was put into palative care. This morning at just before 7 a.m. she passed away. My aunt spent the last couple of months by her bedside. I know she is in a better place now. She fought a good fight. I’m not sure when the funeral will be.
So that’s the update. Things are okay with the family. We are all coping. Thanks for your thoughts 🙂

  1. Oh wow, Troy! I am so very sorry to hear about this. I just went through this with my grandmother. It was a very quick decline and hard to take for that reason.
Also very sorry to hear about your cousin. Was she close to our age?
My heart goes out to your family right now. I am so sorry for your loss.
    Big hugs to everyone.

*HUGS* – still thinking of you all –

  3. My grandfather is almost 83 so he’s lived a long life. Mentally he has been slipping for the past year. He wasn’t completely gone but I think his brain was confused a lot. I think our family is prepared when he passes. I just hope my grandmother will be strong enough to stick around. She is a very strong lady and in good mental health. Physically she is a little frail but she is nowhere close to death.
As for my cousin she was 33. The mother of three adorable little ones. They will be taken care of by her mother (my aunt) whose been their caregiver for the past couple of years. Though it looks like she might have a fight since one of the fathers wants custody of two of the children (even though he hasn’t been part of their life for a long time). We will see how that works itself out in time.

  4. I’m so sorry. Take care of yourself! *HUGS*
