I was talking with a Vietnamese friend of mine today and she started the conversation with “Happy New Year”. Needless to say I was kind of confused. She works at the university with me and I had seen and talked with her since January 1st. Then suddenly it click. Chinese New Year. Apparently Vietnam also uses the same calander as the Chinese so their New Year coincides with the Chinese New Year. I’m a little less confused now 🙂 Does anybody know what year it is in using the Chinese calendar?

But what is the actually Chinese date? Is it 2002 as well or do they have another numerical date?

Seems like the chinese have made up their mind about calendaring a very long long time ago 🙂
