RoundAbouts!!!

When I was vacationing in Scotland last year I had the chance to do some driving. One of the greatest joys and terrors I ever experienced was the “roundabout”. Greatest terror the first time I took one – greatest joy when I got comfortable with them. They are a great way to control traffic.
Roundabouts are slowly making there way into Ontario. The first ones I noticed were in suburbs around Hamilton, Ontario. A couple of weeks ago I found out that they are build a couple in Waterloo region over the next two years, which I am probably more excited about than I really should be. Two days ago they finished up with half of the one at Erb St. and Ira Needles Blvd. and the traffic has been directed onto it. Though it isn’t a roundabout yet it is well on the way to becoming one. I love it so much 🙂

  1. Someday you’ll realise that they’re not really all that cool.
    Dork.

  2. LOL 🙂
If you *really* like roundabouts, pay a visit to the town of Milton Keynes here in England. That town has more roundabouts than anywhere I know.

  3. You know, when I was in Australia, I was pleased to see the Roundabouts with “Give Way” signs.
We have a couple roundabouts here in Portland, but they are stupid, stupid, stoooopid. Why? Because instead of our American cousin to the “Give Way” Signs, known as the “Yield’, we have stop signs at ours. Kinda defeats the purpose of the whole thing…
Roundabouts used the way they were originally intended are very cool though. For a short time I considered moving to Australia, just for those alone.
Yeah, I’m a dork. What can I say?
