Words, Glorious Words

Finally I have a little free time to actually type out an entry and I realize that I have very little to say. Life hasn’t been the most exciting lately but really when is it ever? I guess it was kind of exciting on Saturday. I went down to my parents place for an hour or two because I needed to pick up something from the post office. Since my parents are still in Vegas and the post office will only hold the package for 10 days I figured I might as well drive down and pick it up. It’s only a hour drive to my home from Waterloo so it wasn’t a big deal. On the way back I was about 5 minutes away from my house and couldn’t remember if I locked the door (which wouldn’t be a good thing) so I pulled over to the side of the road to turn around. As luck would have it one of my tires caught on a patch of snow which in turn pulled me towards the ditch. I tried with all my might (and horespower) but the snow wouldn’t release my poor car. About 2 minutes after I did this the first person stopped to help me out. We had little luck. Moments later another person stopped and we tried but again no luck. A couple moments after that two guys stopped in a Ford Bronco. Initially we tried to push the vehicle out of the snow with little luck until I remembered that I had a chain in the trunk of my car. With that we hooked up my car to the Bronco and in moments the vehicle was out of the snow and resting on the side of the road. While we were putting the chain on the vehicles another person had stopped to help me out. It’s times like these that make me believe that humans aren’t all bad. It was a crappy situation that ended up being a good experience. The next time I see someone having problems like that I will surely pull over and help them. It’s the whole karma thing.
On Sunday myself and a couple of other people (including graduate students and such) went Curling. This coming Saturday we are curling in an charity Bonspiel for the Hospice of Waterloo. The curling was good and I actually was playing pretty good (which isn’t bad since I’ve only played 4 times in the past three years) though I was a little sore on Monday. Hey if you want to donate money for my charity curling you can email me and let me know. You’ll get a tax receipt for your donation. ๐Ÿ™‚
