18 Questions – A Meme for the Ages!

The Neil’s World meme (that I mentioned in the previous blog entry) was unveiled this weekend. Once again I am going to put it in the extended entry so those of you who don’t care can just pass on by πŸ™‚

1. Who do you admire the most and why?
In general I admire the female half of the human race. Anyone who is willing to spend nine months of seemingly torture to give birth to another human being are the strongest persons in the world. Being a guy I can’t even imagine doing anything as courageous as that.
2. What would you have as your last meal if you were on death row?
For appetizers I would have garlic bread with cheese. For the main course I’d have pot roast, with gravy, potatoes and corn on the side. Then for dessert I would have a chocolate eclair from a bakery in Courtland, Ontario. They have the best eclairs I’ve ever tasted. So much chocolatey goodness!!
3. What is your earliest memory?
My earliest memory would have to be when I smashed my forehead into the bottom of the staircase bannister when I was 4. My forehead landed on the pointy part of a square piece of wood after I slipped on a rug. I was running after my dad because I didn’t want him to leave (he had a work-related meeting that night). I remember my dad holding me in the backseat of the car as we drove to the hospital. I also seem to recall that I was screaming my head off. I kind of remember getting the stitches in my forehead. The doctors and nurses had to hold me down since I really really didn’t want them sticking needles and thread into my head. After that I don’t remember anything else about the stitches. I still have the scars though.
4. If you had 3 wishes, what would your 3rd wish be?
My third wish would probably be to clean up the environment. My first would be making myself really rich. The second would be world peace leaving the environment for my third. Though knowing my luck I would probably be using a cursed monkeys paw for my wishing and the wish would probably backfire on the human race. In a twilight zone twist the human race would be wiped out as the only way to ensure a cleaning up of the environment. Then the voiceover would say something to the affect of “to ensure that a organism is healthy you must get rid of the disease and not just the symptoms” or something corny like that.
5. If you had to be blind or deaf, which would you choose?
This is a difficult one though in the long run I think I would rather be deaf. I love music and it would be difficult to be without it but the visual world is too rich for me to be able to give it up. Plus I think science is able to help deaf people more than the blind (what with the technological achievements in hearing aids and such).
6. Have you ever been dared to do something where the risk exceeded the reward (ie. jump off a building for a penny)?
A couple times. It usually has to do with food products. One time I drank a glass of concentrated electrolyte replenisher called Sqwincher. This particular drink you were suppose to dilute 8:1 with water but I drank it straight. It didn’t kill me which is a good thing. All I remember was having a sore stomach for an hour or two. I made 3 or 4 dollars of that stunt.
If you were forced to live the rest of your existence in a fictional world from a movie, book and TV show which ones would you select?
As I mentioned two blog posts back I’d love to live in the Gilmore Girls world. If I was in a movie I’d choose Toontown from “Who Framed Roger Rabbit?“. As for a book, probably the world of Harry Potter, or Piers Anthony‘s Xanth.
If you had a superpower, which superpower would it be and why?
The power to stop and/or slow down time. The addendum to this would have to be that in this slowed down or stopped state I wouldn’t age. Think about it. How many times have you wished there was more time in the day? Especially when you have an assignment or project due. That would just be sweet. I think the best part would be stopping time for 8 hours or so to sleep and then starting it up. People would think you were an alien or something since you never have to sleep. Amesome πŸ™‚
9. What is your favourite vegetable?
I would have to say corn. Especially corn-on-the-cob. With the runner-up being potatoes. You can do so much with potatoes.
10. In how many different languages do you know the meaning of at least one word?
Like most everyone I know how to say “hello”, “yes”, “no” and “goodbye” in a bunch of different languages. How many I cannot tell you and I’m not going to try πŸ™‚
11. What did you want to be when you were a child?
The usual. Rockstar, fireman, policeman then a civil engineer like my father. Eventually I settled on mechanical engineer but I still don’t know exactly what I want to be. Maybe a teacher at some point or a CSI (damn you TV!!!). πŸ™‚
12. What one event (if any) would you change in your personal past if you had the power to do it once?
The one thing I would change is a little personal. Having to do with lost opportunities and the like. I’m not going to get into it.
