My last remaining Grandparent, Grandma D’Hondt, passed away early today. She passed away in Tilsonburg General Hospital around 3:30 pm. We are not sure what happened – though we believe here heart just stopped working. My uncle, her son, was at her side when she passed on.
It was very sudden. She was sent to the hospital around 2:00 pm with chest pains. She was in her 80s – and the possibility was always present but I hoped that she would be around for several more years. There was very little warning.
Even though we were not biologically related (my biological grandmother passed away when my father was in his late teens) she is the only grandmother I knew on that side of the family.
The visitation and funeral won’t be until mid-next week.
