For those of you who haven’t heard the song “The Scientist” off of the new Coldplay album I have to ask “where have you been?”. It is currently one of the singles off of the album that is getting alot of air play (as far as I know since I don’t listen to the radio very often). The video for it was just released a while ago and let me say it’s kind of morbid. Not morbid in a CSI or Rotten.com type way. It won’t make you sick to your stomach. It will make you go “did that really have to happen?”.

i’m a big fan of that song. so much so, i was almost disappointed when it became a single, b/c now i’ll listen to it until i get sick of it, and 10 months from now it will experience a revival when i remember how much i liked it.
the video is cool, and the interesting thing is that you can’t only just watch it once, like, say “jenny from the block”. Once you see Affleck kiss Lopez’s ass, that’s a once in a lifetime thing. You *have* to watch “the scientist” over and over again to really understand what’s going on.

I like the song, depressing as it might be, and the video has a cool concept though I feel like nitpicking how the backward thing just doesn’t look right in the beginning, i.e. the part when the bloke just gets up from the mattress and the boy on bike passes through. Still, I admire the technique more than anything because the lipsynching is perfect even though everything seems to be run in rewind mode. Might be a simple thing to do, but I’m easily impressed 🙂 Well, this is what I remember off the top of my head anyway because my connection is too slow to see the video at dotcomusic.
Can’t comment on the song, as I’m woefully ignorant of anything my son doesn’t listen to (what he does listen to, mostly, is rap).
But I can comment on Rotten.com. And that comment would be… NEVER AGAIN. Been there, seen it all with gruesome fascination, but never want to go there again!!!!!
