Friday Five – April 25, 2003

It appears that all of my commentors have died ๐Ÿ™‚ Time for a Friday Five.
1. What was the last TV show you watched?
The last episode of the first season of Six Feet Under. Which is a great show that I think all people should watch!
2. What was the last thing you complained about and what was the problem?
Not sure. In my mind I’ve been complaining about how childish Toronto (particularly the mayor) is being about the WHO advisory to avoid the city because of SARS. Outwardly I guess my last complaint was about the lack of environmental conservation by the public and the government (which I posted on Earth Day.
3. Who was the last person you complimented and what did you say?
Hmmm. I think the last person I really truly complimented was Firda. I can’t think of any other compliments (though I am sure there were more). ๐Ÿ™‚
4. What was the last thing you threw away?
Toilet paper roll, last night. Pretty boring. Let me try again. So I recieved the Hope Diamond as a gift from the Queen of England a couple of days ago. This morning as I was cleaning up my bedroom I accidentally threw it in the trash. Before I knew it the garbage was out on the curb being picked up by a garbageman. There was nothing I could do to save it. I’m not too concerned. Anyways I heard it was cursed. Better?
5. What was the last website that you visited?
Not sure. I haven’t surfed this morning and I don’t remember the last place I went to yesterday.

So that was a compliment? Damn. I thought you meant it! ๐Ÿ˜‰

  2. Terry

Howdy. Thought you might like an extra comment.
Re; SARS. I’m not sure if we’ve had any real cases here in Montreal, but about a dozen people were quarantined in their homes for 10 days. They weren’t allowed to call out for food, beer, etc. because they weren’t allowed to handle money! They had to have free food delivered by a local community agency. Poor saps.
Also, not that i care, but Styx (old rock band) cancelled an upcoming concert here because of SARS. Idiots! This ain’t Toronto!

  3. Firda: I did mean it. A compliment isn’t something bad and it’s not something you make up either. I did mean it.
Terry: I guess in most cases it’s better safe than sorry. If there was potential that I had SARS I wouldn’t mind being quarantined. I think most of the population feels that way (though there is a minority of selfish people who don’t care and have broken quarantine). I’m not really making SARS change my life (what with being about 100 kilometers west of Toronto and having visited Toronto since the outbreak) but I think being cautious is a good thing but by being cautious I don’t mean wearing a mask 24 hours a day and not leaving your house. You just have to be smart about it.

I know you meant it. I was just kidding. That was the wink smiley was for ๐Ÿ™‚ I do have mixed feelings about compliments, though. Some people give compliments just to be nice and don’t really mean it.

  5. the hope diamond. priceless!
